What works immediately, and what may take time
| Situation | Confirmed timing | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Badge received | No general activation delay | Remove it from the protective pouch and fit it |
| Passage through an equipped lane | Usable once fitted | Approach at the stated speed and follow the signs |
| A79 Flux Libre+ option | Up to 48 hours for this option | Do not confuse this with badge activation |
| Badge not detected | Act immediately | Hazard lights, intercom, no reversing |
The 48-hour period sometimes repeated online relates to the Flux Libre+ option on the A79. It does not describe how a delivered, correctly fitted badge normally works.

Fit the badge in the correct position
Ulys recommends attaching the holder to the right or left of the interior rear-view mirror, then sliding the badge into the holder. This position reduces the risk of the windscreen or another part of the vehicle interfering with the signal.
If your vehicle has a heat-reflective windscreen, find the shaded area intended to let radio signals pass. It is usually close to the mirror. Check the vehicle handbook if the correct area is unclear.
Before the first journey, confirm that the holder is firmly attached, the badge is out of its protective pouch and nothing covers it. Do not leave it loose on the dashboard.

If the barrier does not open
A failed detection is not a reason to reverse or get out of the vehicle. Ulys instructs drivers to switch on their hazard lights, use the lane intercom and follow the operator's instructions. This protects both the occupants and approaching traffic.
If the badge works in some lanes but not others, check its position first. If it no longer works anywhere, contact Ulys support from a safe place. Do not try to diagnose the device while stopped at a closed barrier.

Is your badge ready?
Question 1 of 2
In brief
An Ulys badge is usable as soon as it leaves its protective pouch. Fit it near the rear-view mirror, in the dedicated area if the windscreen is heat-reflective. If it is not detected, remain in the vehicle, switch on the hazard lights and call through the intercom.
