Alan: distinguish the referrer's reward from the referred person's free month
The Alan referral conditions provide for a usual reward of 50 € for the referrer and a campaign offering 100 € from 1 to 30 September 2026 inclusive. Confirm the applicable campaign in your account: signing up during September does not, on its own, establish the amount that will be awarded.
The referred person receives one full month free. If cover starts partway through a month, that partial month is still charged and the benefit applies to the following month.
The scheme concerns new eligible health insurance contracts in France. The referred person must never have been an Alan customer; previous cover as an employee through an employer is nevertheless permitted. Alan validates the referral after the contract is signed and one full month of membership has elapsed.
How to choose: first compare cover, exclusions and premiums. Do not extend this offer to every individual or group policy without checking the contract's eligibility.
Dougs: distinguish referrals, the autumn offer and affiliate partnerships
The referral presentation published by Dougs announces one month of accounting for each person, with the new customer registering through the referrer's link. Returning customers are excluded. However, the displayed date is 5 December 2022: this does not guarantee the conditions of a subscription taken out today.
On 22 September 2026, the Dougs homepage also advertises an autumn offer of two free months of accounting. This does not establish either two months for the referrer or that the offer can be combined with a referral. Before signing, ask Dougs which benefit applies to your plan, to which invoice and under what conditions. The terms of use state that the accounting engagement is governed by a separate engagement letter.
The Dougs affiliate programme is a separate scheme: it pays partners for the active customers they bring in. It should not be presented as a customer's referral month.
How to choose: start with the accounting support you need, the services included and the agreed price. No euro value is assigned to the free month here, because the applicable plan and conditions have not been confirmed.
Proton: credits to use towards a subscription
The Proton programme terms, dated 9 December 2025, provide 20 USD in credits for each person after a successful referral. These credits cannot be exchanged for cash. The referred person must never have had a Proton account and must use the referrer's link to subscribe to an eligible plan. Cancellation resulting in a refund may prevent the reward. The referrer's total is capped at 1 000 USD in credits; the link is disabled once that limit is reached.
Proton's help page lists VPN Plus, Mail Plus, Pass Plus, Drive Plus and Proton Unlimited. The contract refers more broadly to paid individual plans: check the plan offered through your link, without extending the promise to Business plans.
For referrers, the terms include individual free accounts in good standing. They exclude, among others, affiliates and Business plan administrators. The help page still contains an answer restricting referrals to paying subscribers: if your account does not let you refer someone, ask Proton to confirm your eligibility.
Credits are not immediate. The terms specify 30 days after the start of the first paid billing cycle; the help page mentions one month of subscription, or two months for monthly plans. These statements do not establish a single deadline measured from registration. Check the timing stated for your particular subscription process and do not spend money on the assumption that the credit is already available.
The credit documentation explains how credits are used for Proton payments. They reduce spending on a service; they are not a fixed cash bonus in euros.
Compare useful savings, not just the advertised gift
Before committing, ask yourself three questions:
- Which service would you choose without a referral? Health cover, an accounting engagement and a digital subscription meet different needs.
- What will you still have to pay? Compare the normal price, the intended duration and any fees, then deduct only the confirmed benefit you will receive.
- What triggers that benefit? Keep the conditions of your invitation, your contract or order and confirmation of the award. Registration is not proof that a credit or bank transfer has been received.
