The CinéPass referral program run by Pathé Gaumont cinemas is an active scheme reserved for existing CinéPass subscribers. Unlike systems built around a digital link, this one works from the referrer's own subscription number, which the referred person must enter when taking out their own subscription.

In practice, someone who wants to become a referred subscriber gets their referrer's CinéPass subscription number from them, then enters it while subscribing to a new plan, whether that happens online or directly at a cinema counter. Entering that number is what links the new subscription back to the referrer and triggers the benefits tied to the operation.

Eligibility for the referred subscriber comes with one specific restriction: the referral offer is not compatible with a subscription paid for using a Gift Voucher or a CinéPass exchange voucher. A subscription funded that way cannot benefit from the referral scheme, regardless of how the referrer's number was shared.

The program also sets frequency limits on the referrer's side: the same subscriber can refer at most three people within any rolling twelve-month period, with an additional cap of one referral per month. Together, these two limits prevent heavy or automated use of the scheme by a single account.

One important safeguard concerns how solid the benefit actually is: if the referred subscriber exercises their right of withdrawal on their subscription, the benefit granted to the referrer is automatically cancelled. Likewise, if the referred subscriber cancels their subscription before actually benefiting from the free months offered by the operation, those months cannot be refunded, either to the referrer or to the referred subscriber.
